Decorating is supposed to be fun. Sure, there are decorating "rules", but these rules are meant to be helpful,
not limiting. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed when they face the decisions involved in decorating their
homes. They are so afraid to make a decorating "mistake" that they find themselves frozen in indecision.
I am happy to help you learn and apply the decorating "rules"--they are certainly helpful-- but my true joy is in
freeing you to have fun, enjoy the process, and really allow your home to be a reflection of you. Decorating is a
creative process, and I love those moments when inspiration strikes, and my clients and I smile at one another
and say, "Why not?!" Here are a few examples. For more decorating inspiration, please visit my blog!
Why not fill the
gum ball machine
with colorful pasta
and display it in
the kitchen? Your
dentist will thank
you!
Why not turn a weathered
floorboard from an old tobacco
barn into a one-of-a-kind mantle for
the bedroom?
Why not tie that
curtain with a piece
of raffia to add a
natural, "custom"
element to your
store bought
window treatment?
Why not bring that wrought iron
garden bench inside for breakfast
nook seating? Why not make French
Provencal pillows out of cloth
napkins?
Why not use an old window to frame
vintage postcards in the kitchen?
Why not salvage a few squares from
that tattered quilt and frame them?
Why not stitch that dish towel into
a unique vintage pillow?
Why not cover that plain
lampshade with botanical
images from an old calendar?
Why not hang a
colorful purse on the
wall? When you
need it, you can
simply take it down
and use it!
Why not spray paint that dated
dining room light fixture,
drape it with a string of
costume pearls, and hang it in
the bathroom?
Why not fill that cookie tin with
flowers for a whimsical
centerpiece?
